Ranvet - Iron Plus

Iron Supplement for Horses
With Folic acid - essential for blood haemoglobin
New sweet syrup - horses love the taste

Super Strength Iron An unsolicited testimonial

Add to the feed just 30ml Iron Plus for a full 380mg dose of Iron. Iron Plus is a super strength supplement, so a 1, 5 litre or 20 litre pack lasts longer. Iron is an essential part of oxygen carrying haemoglobin in the blood, myoglobin in the muscles and many enzymes involved in respiration. Iron alone may not, however, be enough to look after blood haemoglobin, and Folic acid plays a critical role in maintaining haemoglobin concentration levels.

Folic acid is essential for blood haemoglobin
Stabled horses with limited access to green feed have lower folate levels than horses with free access to rapidly growing pasture and, although they may not exhibit haematological or clinical signs, may have depressed haemoglobin and serum folate levels. Ranvet Iron Plus with Folic acid was formulated by Dr Percy Sykes MRCVS MACVSc after observing that certain forms of macrocytic hypochromic anaemia's (smaller than normal cells with less than normal haemoglobin) have responded to Folic acid administration, and that daily oral feed supplementation with Folic acid has been shown to significantly increase serum haemoglobin levels.

Vitamin Safe
Iron Plus is especially practical for horses fed supplementary vitamins. The non-aggressive chelated iron does not interfere with the uptake of other vitamins in the feed (except Vitamin E). So you can even use it to sweeten new supplements when they are introduced to the diet and all vitamins in the feed will be unaffected by the Iron syrup.

For horses in training
Horses in training with increased demands for oxygen-carrying haemoglobin need to maintain optimal Iron - as Ferritin and serum folate levels to carry the optimum amount of oxygen from the lungs to the muscles and helps to maintain horses in peak condition for elite competition.

For pregnant/ lactating mares
The greatest need for Iron is in the newborn foal, which has a rapidly expanding blood volume. Mares' milk is a poor source of Iron and early access to good quality feed or supplementation is necessary before the foal exhausts all its foetal reserves. Avoid iron deficiency anaemia in foals by maintaining the mare's iron reserves through pregnancy and lactation. Then add to a creep feed for foals and the new sweet taste will win them over.

How to use Ranvet Iron Plus
Add 30 ml Iron Plus to the feed or give by oral syringe. The new flavour, formulated especially for Ranvet Iron Plus, masks the dry metallic taste to give a sweet tasty supplement horses will look for. More like a treat than a supplement! New Super Strength Iron Plus has a full 380mg dose of Iron in every 30ml. The new thick syrup is easy to mix with feed.
